So, whaddaya wanna know?!
Well, let’s start with the basics. I’m Sukey Booth, a 40-something (cough/shoosh) born-and-bred Brightonian woman.
I’ve always been pretty practical – from a very young age I hung out with my Dad in the garage and “helped” build things. My Mum still has a miniature stool that I made when I was 4 or 5. Not gonna lie, you might not want to risk sitting on it, but 40+ years later it still does a great job holding a plant pot!
I’ve had quite a varied working life doing all sorts of things, but I’m now at that point/age/mid-life-crisis where I value working for myself, doing useful things for nice folk, and being able to put some time aside for myself, doing my own arty things (yes, I know, another Brighton artist…) So here I am. Doing electrical sparky stuff. (Gawd, I love making things work!)
Something else about me: I’m not a massive morning person. (Sorry, not sorry…) But you know what? That means I’ll happily do work in the evenings at no extra charge, so you don’t need to take a day off work just to be around for a small job – I can pop around when you get back in; generally my work days finish at 8pm.
My friends would tell you that I like to do things properly (like, really properly…) so I’ve done the formal training to add to my life-time experience of tinkering with bits n bobs. Listen up, y’all, I’ve got certificates and everything, so I’m OK to be let loose on your wiring. (If I’m not, I’ll let you know!)
I have C&G Level 3 qualifications in Part P Building Regs, and BS7671 (aka “the wiring regs”) and Level 2 & 3 Electrical Testing, so I know what I can and can’t do! I am – of course – fully insured; I have £2m of public liability cover, should the unthinkable happen.
A lot of the time, you won’t need a fully registered electrician for smaller jobs, but you do need a “competent person” – hopefully I can be that person for you! I come with the benefits of not being booked up for months and months on really huge commercial jobs, I’m really reasonably priced, and I’ll happily do really small jobs that are really local to me. (You can see more about which areas I work in on this page.)
I’ll never over-commit to a job I’m not qualified to do: I’ll be upfront with you if I can’t do what needs doing.
Some examples of things I am qualified to do:
- Change your light fittings, switches and sockets.
- Add extensions and new light fittings to an existing circuit
- Add extensions and new plug sockets to existing circuits (including in kitchens)
- Replace broken extractor fans in bathrooms
- Add or change an outdoor garden lights
- EICRs (Electrical Installation Condition Reports)
- …and various other things – ask me!
I have professional test equipment, and will test and certify minor electrical works, so you’re in safe hands.
So, I’ve already said I’m really reasonably priced. Want to know what that means? I’ve included a bit of information about pricing on this page.
